Domingo Oramas : The Passion and Potential I Witnessed in Gokulam Made me Join Malabarians

In an exclusive interview to GKFC Media, Malabarians head coach Domingo Oramas explains his football philosophy, the decision to join Gokulam and his aims with his new stint.
Interviewer: Welcome to India and Gokulam! Coach, could you please explain what made you sign for Gokulam and take up India as your next destination?
Domingo Oramas (Coach): Thank you for the warm welcome. I had the opportunity to watch numerous matches of Gokulam and the I-League, and during my discussions with Mr. Praveen regarding the team and potential improvements, I felt a strong connection. When the offer was extended by the club president, I had no doubt about accepting it. The passion and potential I witnessed in Gokulam made it an exciting prospect for me.
Interviewer: Could you explain your playing philosophy and how you plan to approach football at the club?
Coach: My playing philosophy revolves around treating the ball with utmost care and respect. Having worked for ten years at UD Las Palmas, where I had the privilege of working with talented players like Viera, Vitolo, Nili, and even witnessing the rise of Pedri, who is now making waves at Barcelona, I strongly believe in nurturing and harnessing talent. At Gokulam, we aim to be a cohesive unit with an offensive spirit, employing good positional play and maintaining depth in our game play. Together, we will strive to achieve our objectives and make our mark.
Interviewer: The club has won two consecutive league titles and finished in third position last season. What are your aims and expectations for the club?
Coach: Since my arrival at Gokulam, we will work tirelessly to become the best team possible and secure the title. I am a firm believer in hard work, dedication, and the daily fight for excellence. Our collective efforts, combined with the support of the club, players, and fans, will make our journey smoother. We aim high, and we are determined to make our mark in Indian football.
Interviewer: Coaching players in a different country poses a unique challenge. How long do you think it will take for you to adapt to Indian conditions?
Coach: Time is of the essence, and we cannot afford to waste any. Although adaptation to Indian conditions will require some time, I am confident that with the support of the club, players, and fans, the transition will be smoother. We will work together, and I am certain that our collective efforts will expedite the adaptation process.
Interviewer: Gokulam is known for its ambition to win titles and promote players from its community. What are your thoughts on this aspect?
Coach: I am thrilled about Gokulam’s ambitions as a club. The president’s determination to secure an ISL spot next season resonates with my own goals. Additionally, Gokulam’s commitment to promoting players from its community is evidence to the club’s dedication to nurturing local talent. I fully support this approach and will strive to create an environment that maximizes the potential of these players, as we work towards our shared objectives.
Interviewer: Finally, do you have a message for the fans?
Coach: To all the Gokulam fans, I would like to express my gratitude for the overwhelming support. I want to assure you that our work is dedicated to you and the city. Your support will play a crucial role in our success this season. Together, we will embark on an exciting journey, and I am genuinely thrilled to begin working for Gokulam Kerala FC.
