GKFC all set for arrows challenge

After a thumping win in the ILeague opener, Gokulam Kerala FC are all set to face Indian Arrows in their first away match at Tilak Maidan in Goa on Friday.

Gokulam Kerala FC defeated NEROCA FC, 2-1, in the opener at EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode and the team will be without its thirty-one thousand strong fans when they face the developmental squad of the All India Football Federation.

Indian Arrows have played four matches against Gokulam and have a clear-cut edge in head-to-head numbers. The development squad have won two matches and have drawn another one. The Malabarians were able to win only one match against Indian Arrows so far and that too in the first season.

The Argentine coach is vary of the reputation and the statistics of the Indian Arrows team against Gokulam Kerala FC.

“Our win at home gives confidence but we must be respectful to the rivals and we know that Indian Arrows is a very intense team. We need to maintain concentration, have to be dynamic and need to control the game. We are facing a young team and they play all the balls as if it is their last game. They have quality in their game,” he said.

Last year a defeat against Indian Arrows continue to haunt Malabarians whole the season. A repeat of the result will be disastrous.

“We are not taking any team lightly. Our aim is to win the tournament and for that we need to give our 100 percent in every game,” said Mohammed Irshad.
