House built using the ticket money of GKFC-SAT Tirur exhibition match to be handed over to flood victims family

Malappuram June 21: Malappuram Football Fraternity will hand over the house constructed using the fund generated from an exhibition match between Gokulam Kerala FC and AB Bismi SAT Tirur to a family of footballers in Nilambur on Monday (June 22) at 11 AM.
The three brothers had lost their home in last year’s Kerala floods and both the teams played an exhibition match at Kottapadi in Malappuram on October 12 to help Malappuram Football Fraternity to find funds for the construction of the house.
From the exhibition match, Rs 9 lakh was collected and the organisers received another Rs 1.77 Lakh as donation from an organisation called ACTON to complete the 850-sq ft house.
“We are happy to be part of the endeavour. Malappuram is a place of football lovers and they have once again proved it. This time they have extended their love for another course through football. As a sport, football can unite communities and this is a major example,” said Gokulam Gopalan, the chairman of Gokulam Kerala FC.
“I wish more clubs and fraternities should come forward to support who need help. Gokulam Kerala FC have always been in forefront of such endeavours and will continue to do so,” he added.
“We were able to complete the work of the house on time and handover the house. Several football lovers have helped us in this project. The family was in dire need of help and we are happy that we were able to fulfil it. We thank both the clubs that have supported us from the start onwards,” said Ashique Kainikkara, a member of district sports council and organiser of the match.
The key handover function will be inaugurated by Malappuram district collector K Gopalakrishnan. District police chief U Abdul Kareem will be the chief guest while Gokulam Gopalan and SAT Tirur sponsor Ajmal Bismi will be the guests of honour.
State Special Branch DySP Mohanachandran  and Malappuram District Football Association secretary Suddheer will hand over the keys to the family. Other than the key hand over function, everything will be held through Zoom meeting. Zoom meeting id is 95094486956 and password is dpc2020.
