UBAID revels in Semifinal Moments

Gokulam Kerala FC semifinal hero CK Ubaid is still revering those precious moments that helped Malabarians enter the final of the 129 th edition of Durand Cup.

“I can’t forget those moments. It is one of the best moments in my life. I am happy that our team has reached the final. This is a pride moment for entire Malayalees. Playing in the final of this prestigious tournament is still a big achievement,” said CK Ubaid.

Ubaid had played for East Bengal in the last season. “In football you don’t know where you play each season. I had some great moments at East Bengal also. I respect the fans and the club. But now I am a player of Gokulam Kerala FC,” says Ubaid.

“I am now a player of Gokulam Kerala FC and that makes me proud. Playing for a club from my home state was always my dream. Now I was able to help them reach the final. This is something huge. I will love to go back to Kerala with the trophy. I hope that dream will also come true,” he said.

Ubaid feels that the Gokulam squad is capable of pulling of an upset in the final also, “We have great players. They have started to combine well. In the league rounds, we played brilliantly. Our foreigners, especially Marcus Joseph are outstanding,” he said.

“Gokulam Kerala FC is a boon to Kerala football. Several Kerala players are getting ample play time here. The likes of Mohamed Salah, Shibil Muhamed and Jestin George have shown good performance. I am happy to play along with these players,” he added.

Gokulam Kerala FC face Mohun Bagan in the final of the Durand Cup to be held on August 24. The match is live on Star Sports 3 and Hotstar.
